The origin of a craft
Mr. Lui Ming was born in December 1930 in Heshan City, Guangdong Province. Lui Ming was born into a wealthy family and made a living by farming. But Mr. Lui Ming is not willing to settle for the status quo. When he was 19 years old, he decided to find a villager to introduce him to a factory in Guangzhou, where he learned the skills of making bamboo steamers and powder sifters.
The "Great Escape" Era
In June 1962, 32 years old Mr. Lui Ming, smuggled himself into Sai Kung, Hong Kong via the Macau waterway and landed in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. At that time, he was penniless and could only temporarily stay at a friend's house. He found a shop specializing in making baskets (powder sifters) in Shantung Street, Kowloon, and worked as a temporary worker, using his skills to make a living.
